Ivory Coast president seeks new constitution. On Tuesday, Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara announced the creation of a committee to draft a new constitution that omits the current nationality requirements for the presidency. The requirements, which mandate that both parents of the president be native Ivorians and that the president hold no foreign citizenship, helped set off a decade-long civil war in which former president Laurent Gbagbo refused to recognize Ouattara's legitimacy.
