SCOTUS rules cell phone location data protected by Fourth Amendment. This morning, the United States Supreme Court held that the government needs a warrant to access cell phone location records. The justices were sharply divided over the case, with Chief Justice John Roberts and the court’s traditionally liberal wing writing the majority opinion, and each of the other four justices issuing his own dissent.

Voting age for Japanese constitutional referendums lowered to 18. On Wednesday, the minimum age for Japanese citizens to vote in constitutional referendums was lowered from 20 to 18. The change, which is a bid to increase civic participation, arrives on the heels of legislation that will also lower the age of adulthood to 18 by 2022.
