Nepal chooses new prime minister after constitutional compromise. On Wednesday, former Maoist rebel leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal, commonly referred to as "Prachanda," secured crucial Madhesi support to become Nepal's new prime minister. In exchange for Madhesi support, Prachanda and the ruling coalition agreed to introduce constitutional amendments that address Madhesi demands and pledged that the government will recognize as martyrs those killed in protests last year.
