About the CCP

The world’s most comprehensive database of constitutional text and data

Since 2005, the Comparative Constitutions Project has analyzed thousands of constitutions from every country in the world, creating the most comprehensive database of constitutional text and data available to researchers, policymakers, and citizens. What began with ambitious research questions about constitutional design has evolved into a global resource for constitutional scholars and drafters worldwide. We provide systematic data and analysis to support evidence-based constitutional design that promotes peace, justice, and human development.

What We Do

🔍

Research & Analysis

We collect, code, and analyze constitutional provisions across countries and time periods, examining the origins and consequences of constitutional choices that are directly relevant to those drafting new constitutions.

📊

Data & Resources

Our database allows comparative legal scholars to conduct rigorous analysis long before they provide advice to constitution drafters. This systematic approach ensures recommendations are grounded in empirical evidence rather than theory alone.

🌍

Global Access

We make constitutional knowledge accessible worldwide through our partnerships, digital platforms, and open access book series and journal—democratizing access to crucial information about governance and legal frameworks.
