Former Directors & Staff

Our staff and contractors are at the heart of the Comparative Constitutions Project. At any given time, we have roughly 10-15 people who translate, code, and reconcile constitutional events. Co-Founder & Former Co-Director

James MeltonJames Melton most recently served as Senior Lecturer in Comparative Politics in the Department of Political Science at University College London from 2012-2015. Before joinging UCL, he was an Assistant Professor at the IMT Institute for Advanced Studies in Lucca, Italy. He holds a B.A. degree from Illinois Wesleyan University, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His research focuses on how the design of formal institutions contributes to economic, political, and social development. He recently published an edited volume that analyzes the historic and contemporary influence of Magna Carta entitled Magna Carta and Its Modern Legacy. Learn more.
